The ways of Santiago of Compostela are probably the most famous Christian pilgrimage route. Many pilgrims over the centuries have left historic monuments around the world which mark the various routes. The French heritage in this region is characterised by cathedrals, churches, basilicas and abbeys.
You will start your walk from Cahors and continue along unsurfaced roads and through woodland to the small hilltop town of Montcuq . The next stage of your tour is Durfort . Then your walk goes on to Moissac, a major pilgrimage stage and wonderful centre of Romanesque art. On day 5, you will arrive in Auvillar, a small hilltop town with its beautifully restored medieval market hall. You will finally arrive int he ancient spa town of Lectoure.
